Jermain was born and raised in Hackney. In 2014, He was crowned winner of BBC’s nationwide talent contest The Voice UK where Sir Tom Jones tagged him the ‘Singing Politician’. Since then, Jermain has combined his musical talent with his role as a political activist. As the co-chair of Hackney Young Futures Commission, former advisor for the National Citizens Service, and after studying Politics at University, Jermain is determined to use his voice as a tool for social change. To ensure the voices of young disenfranchised people are not ignored, Jermain listens to their concerns at youth clubs, schools and estates and carries it into the work that he does. There he raises awareness of their challenges and limited opportunities and helps to develop holistic solutions addressing the complex issues they face.
